Sad Mouse!

-I'm seriously thinking of adopting him to give him a loving home. I have to do what's best for him though. What do you think?

Are you in a position to adopt him? Do you have supplies, can you afford to care for him and potentially see the vet. Even Petco, which is like the worst pet store for mice provide veterinary care to sick mice.
That's how I adopted Splotchy. I saw her at the pet store for 6 months and couldn't take it anymore. I love her to bit though, I can't imagine life without her.

I have the supplies, I have 2 extra ten gallons in storage as well. Would two male mice in the same room annoy them? Could they smell each other?

Re: Sad Mouse!
Some males won't mind living in the same room as another male. I had two brothers living next to each other who liked to "chase" each other up and down their cage walls. It was funny to walk into the room and find them staring at each other from a few inches apart.
It doesnt seem to be the norm, but other males might start marking more or have behavioral changes, like biting.

Re: Sad Mouse!
I had two males in the same room, I didn't notice any changes in behavior. Mine were about five feet away from each other. Just wash your hands before handling them so you don't smell like another male. But I'm sure my clothes still smelled like another male but that is something they would encounter in the wild anyway. I've never had a problem with extra marking or biting. But I've only had to two males, so it's not like I have a ton of experience with this situation.
