She certainly looks satin! These are some beautiful little babies. Do you know any genders yet? Or can that not be figured out until later?
I always feel sorry for pregnant females at pet stores. They'll end up with babies that are never properly tamed, and that will probably not be super well treated. I could totally see myself adopting a pregnant female one day. My husband will hate me Laughing

I'm really hoping that I have some satins and that some of them are females Very Happy! I posted them in a Facebook group and a lot of people are saying they think the yellow baby may be satin. I've never had a satin mice, so I'm not very well versed on what they look like, especially at this age.

I haven't tried to sex them yet, but I may give it a shot today Smile Fingers crossed for girls!

And yes, they do get cuter every day! They are so adorable and I love how soft they are! I could hold them all day Very Happy

Let's hope you get a lot of girls! What do you plan on doing with the kids once they're weaned? Are you rehoming some or keeping them all?

I have homes lined up for several of them. I'm still searching for a few more as, ideally, I don't want to keep them all. Just a few girls and maybe a boy. However, I have the space and means to care for them all if the news homes were to fall threw/not be found Smile

How lucky! It's not always easy to find homes for mice. Can I ask what sorts of homes you're giving them to? Mostly family and friends or did you manage to find people through craigslist and stuff? I'm just curious in case I ever run into a similar situation.

Currently, it is only friends and family, but I do plan to post on Craigslist and some Facebook pages. I plan to price them at about $5-$7 on those sites to hopefully keep them from ending up as feeders. I don't have anything against people who feed live mice, I just love these babies too much to see them end up as snake food!

I've seen some people who sell mice request to see a photograph of their tank/cage set up - kind of as proof that they're being kept as pets. Could be something to consider.

UPDATE:

Jess' Litter
They're doing great! Squirmy little things! I feel bad that she moved them out of the nesting box. I walked in and she was chasing a baby down and putting it back in the nest. Poor thing! They're colors are coming in really strong now! I wasn't able to get any photos today, unfortunately.

Riley's Litter
Talk about moving! These babies are everywhere when I try to hold them! They are so quick xD I held them extra close to the bedding today because they are so quick and squirmy! I also tried my hand at sexing them. I ended up using the nipples method because, man, they are hard to sex using the other method at this age! I think I ended up with 5 females and 5 males, a perfect split! I'm a bit bummed that the brindle, two of the yellows, and the darker mystery baby are all males, but oh well! I may have to keep a yellow male, especially if he turns out satin! I was only able to get two photos today (of the mystery babies and a yellow baby) as I'm in a bit of a hurry.

Man, I wish we could neuter males! Then you could at least keep one with your girls and one alone. The vet science community really has to figure out a way to do it so our boys can know the companionship of their own species.

You can neuter boys. It's just expensive, is all.

It's not safe. Mice don't respond well to anesthesia, the recovery period takes up a sizable chunk of their life, and most vets here aren't skilled or experienced enough with mice to do it safely. Unless you know something I don't? :O If you do, please share!

They may still be considered RY. There's this little bit on the Varieties page.
In youth, recessive yellow mice are usually sooty, having uneven color, often with dark ticking (often being more prevalent over the rump). This usually goes away with their adult coat.

I totally agree with the neutering part. Not that I would ever try it, but I wonder if males would even be inclined to fight anymore with the lack of hormones? Would be interesting to see.

I always feel so bad for my boys who have to be housed alone. I love watching my girls (especially my young trio) because they are so cute together! Whenever I open the cage, all three of them will peak out their noses together and it is so cute!

UPDATE:

Jess' Litter
I am so in love with all of the patterns I am seeing. They are so unique and very different and it is so much fun. I also have one brindled baby who I love to bits. I sexed them today and have 6 girls and 3 boys so yay for that! They are all doing awesome and are very squirmy. The colored rump baby is a boy and man he likes to move! He is so fast!

Entire litter

Brindle girl and colored rump male

Two babies (I forgot their sexes xD)

Riley's Litter
They are so big! I re-sexed them again today to double check and one boy must have slipped my check because it turns out I have 6 boys and 4 girls unfortunately! Also, I think my mystery babies are in-fact simply sooty RY. They are starting to get a more yellowish tone to them, especially on their sides.

Entire Litter

Boys

Girls

Mystery baby and yellow baby

Both mystery babies and yellow baby. On the top baby, you can really see the yellow coming in .
