Archie's Halloween Pad
Archie's cage has had an autumn/Halloween makeover! (Everyone knows by autumn, I mean "fall" right? I know you guys don't use that word, so just checking!). The mice are still waiting for their home makeovers, but I thought I'd share some pictures of Archie's in the meantime
I never know whether to refer to Archie's pad as a cage or a tank, cuz it's kinda in between, like a plastic tank lol. But for anyone who's wondering it's a Ferplast multy duna, which is approx 28 x 18 inches. For comparison - that's 504 square inches, and a 20L gallon tank is 360 square inches. So not a bad size for a dwarf hamster.
A couple of general shots...

An aerial view. To clear up what a few items are - in the back left is Archie's sand pit. On the far right, in the middle, is Archie's crocodile chew (he LOVES it). And the big wooden thing that the crocodile is on is Archie's labyrinth house, which is like a little maze with a roof (will show an inside picture later, for those who are interested!).

I made lots of autumn-coloured leaves with some paper punches I have, and I decorated a kitchen roll tube all Halloweeny.

Archie has a water bowl, because his bottle recently broke. Here we have a weird pumpkin candle holder thing that he uses as a hide. And some wheat stalk things, cuz I thought they looked kinda harvesty. How cute is the hamster bowl though?

Archie likes to take an afternoon nap here.

A spooky ghost. A hanging apple thingie (apple-bobbing anyone?!). And there's also a hanging bat in the top right, which I forgot to get a good shot of, whoops.

An orange loofah piece. And a bendy bridge thing, which I added popsicle stick things to, to help Archie climb down it easier (he's fat and clumsy, so he'd just belly-slide down it otherwise lol).

A couple of clings left over from last Halloween. They're meant for glasses/cups.

Bonus: For those who were interested, here's the inside of Archie's house. It's too packed with bedding to see - but there's holes connecting each section, and the stairs on the right lead to the roof. He loves burrowing around in there
The front middle section is where he keeps his food horde. Underneath the stairs is where Archie sleeps - nice and dark and private!

And this is where he comes out to say hi when I call him (taken a while ago on a worse phone, sorry for the quality!)

Happy Halloween from Archie

Looks great! The leaves really finish it all off and I love the little spiderwebs on the tube.
Fall/Autumn - I really do use both but I guess we do tend to mostly say Fall around here.

Haha, Archie wanted to go back to sleep and refused to pose for pictures. Lazy boy.
CallaLily - good to know. I have only heard that Americans say "fall" so wasn't sure if you guys ever used autumn at all or if you'd even know what I meant lol

Re: Archie's Halloween Pad
Everything looks so festive! I must say that I'm continually amazed at the marvelous cages, small animal hides and toys available in the UK. That tank-cage is both practical and beautiful and that little wooden "apartment" (or, I guess I should say, "flat") is beyond wonderful!

Re: Archie's Halloween Pad
Thanks guys
Yeah I am definitely a fan of this type of tank-cage for hamsters. I didn't want a regular cage, cuz I wanted to give him tonnes of bedding to burrow around in without it falling through bars (he has about 5 inches in there!) but glass tanks are so expensive here, as well as heavy. So this is kinda the best of both worlds.
As for his wooden apartment, he loooves it
I always hear him digging around inside there haha. Perfect for little hams
